Winsphere Jones

Winsphere Jones illuminates his writing with gothic themes and disturbing plot lines, bringing a unique twist to storytelling on stage.  He centers his fictional world in New Amsterdam, the newest free city in the Americas. Winsphere Jones shapes his world by defying history and recreating it from a new point of view.  Jones has raised the question, ”What if slavery ended before it became the fabric of how America was built?”  The world he has created sets a course for a new way to see humanity without the confines of dealing with man-made social constructs that he feels stops progression and the evolution of society. He has created a world of possibilities for all men, so that they are truly created equal. And the parchment in which the words of freedom are written are worth their weight.  However, this does not mean that Man cannot be reckless and cause this world to fail.  He considers the world of New Amsterdam to be a stage where he writes his stories of humanity’s greatest internal battles.  Elevating his craft to a more classical tone, Winsphere Jones gains strength from such writers as William Faulkner, Shakespeare, Mary Shelly and James Baldwin.  From 2010 to 2012, he was a resident artist for the famous Douglas Theatre, gaining notoriety and making alliances throughout the local theatre circles with 5 original plays.  In 2013, he won the award for Best Overall Production at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for the play, Thy Kingdom Come.  In 2015, he joined the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival again and won Best Director for the play, The Red Spider.  In 2016, he will publish his first novel, The Great Condor, a murder mystery that takes place in the alternate universe he created to write some of his most fantastic stories.  Winsphere Jones hopes to bolster appreciation for theatre, uplift actors who are serious about their craft, and give new experiences for those looking enjoy something new in the literature world.  As a writer, he hopes to be a significant part of broadening the minds of those who have been kept in the box far too long and create the spirit for the New American writer.
